The health and safety of our workforce is of huge importance to us and to our clients. Olameter has established and maintains an occupational health and safety assessment system in conformance with OHSAS 18001:2007 international standards.
Olameter is committed to a process that is
To accomplish this, Olameter has implemented a “Workforce Safety Plan”, which must be read and understood fully by all of our employees. Employees must report any dangerous condition immediately to their superiors. Moreover, each individual is expected to take the initiative on health and safety issues and, acting alone or with others, to redress them. Employees who violate these safety conditions, or who fail to report or remedy such situations, may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
Olameter regularly reviews workplace health and safety issues with its employees. This is done at regional employee-manager meetings where safety videos, memos, e-mails, Health & Safety bulletins, or other written communications are discussed and procedures are rehearsed. The training program addresses issues such as safety or health hazards and safe-working procedures.
At Olameter, we believe that attention to the health and safety of our workforce is, not only in their best interest, but also in the best interests of our clients and shareholders as well.
Many utilities outsource some of their service work. This is usually done for cost savings, but occasionally to get access to more advanced technologies or personnel with a greater depth of experience. The competitive provision of service provides the best assurance that clients and ratepayers are getting value for their money.
All work done by the Field Services and Damage Prevention divisions of Olameter is internally audited and independently certified to be in conformance with ISO 9001:2015 quality management system. ISO 9001:2015 sets out the criteria for an independently verifiable quality management system. This standard provides guidance and tools for companies that would want to ensure that their products and services consistently meet customer’s requirements. The standard is based on a number of quality management principles including a strong customer focus, the motivation and implication of top management, the process approach, and continual improvement.________________________________________
Paying attention to the environment is good – it can also be good business. For instance, it helps to reduce the costs of waste management, energy, and materials.
When a utility, regulated or unregulated, decides to outsource field services, they need to consider whether their choice of contractor increases or decreases the risk of bad headlines – especially those involving the environment. There is always a chance that unfortunate incidents may arise when fieldwork is involved, whether insourced or outsourced. These things, unchecked, can easily escalate and have disproportionate financial consequences.
Olameter applies a formal system of environmental oversight based on the ISO methodology. The ISO 14001:2004 standard provides framework that a company can follow to set up and monitor an environmental management system that is subject to continuous measurement and ongoing improvement. At Olameter, we rely on both internal audits and external certification to provide our clients with proof of the efficacy of this system.________________________________________
